Knowing Shakespeare

3rd and 4th ESO

Meet England’s most famous playwright - William Shakespeare with LOOK OUT!'s new production - Knowing Shakespeare.

LOOK OUT! takes you back in time to Elizabethan England to see Shakespeare in action.  He’s the most influential wordsmith in the English language and our 16th century hero but he has a very modern problem: a deadline. And to top it all, he’s got writer’s block!

In Knowing Shakespeare, students journey back to the ‘Golden Age’ of English history and are brought right into the performance - just like the audiences in William’s own theatre: The Globe. Students will see what inspired Shakespeare to write his great comedies, histories and tragedies. They will participate in creating his characters, take part in his love for language and get acquainted with greatest writer of all time.

The student workbook includes a history timeline. Reading and speaking exercises include how audiences behaved and words invented by Shakespeare.
